The word ‘thin’ can be used in so many positive ways. A thin slice of good cheese or you look thin in that dress. There’s one use of it though that can produce terror, and that’s when it’s used to describe your hair.
Thinning hair can ruin anyone’s day and, sadly, their confidence. It may be surprising to know though, that your own bad habits may be the cause of your hair loss.
You Are What You Eat
You need to pack your diet with good foods. Lean protein is best, like lentils, fish, and chicken. If you can sustain a diet that contains at least 25% of that, that’s your best chance.
Fasting is really damaging. Whether you do it as part of a diet, or if your fasting is tied to your mental health habits, it’s doing damage to your hairline.
Scratch It Away
Every time you scratch your scalp, you’re causing slight damage to your hair follicles. If you’re continually scratching, you may even kill those follicles off. This means the hair from that place won’t grow back, or if it does – it’ll be thin and brittle.
Dry Shampoo Is Not Shampoo
The rise of dry shampoo has been significant in the last few years, but it could also be the cause of your hair loss. By using that and missing out on the traditional washing process, your hair builds up ingredients in dry shampoos, such as starch. This buildup can clog your pores, which stops the natural oils from coming through and stimulating growth in your hair follicles.
Blame the Pill
The contraceptive pill has the big bonus of stopping you from getting pregnant, but there are a few bad side effects to it. One of the big ones is that it may be the cause of your hair loss. Long-term use of contraceptive pills weakens your hair. If you’re already someone who has weaker hair by nature, this will amplify its effects and leave you with thin or bald patches.
