Women around the world experience post-pregnancy hair loss. This problem occurs due to hormonal changes that take place during pregnancy. Namely, the low levels of estrogen after you give birth disrupt the standard hair growth cycle.
Luckily, post-pregnancy hair loss is only temporary. But it may take up to a year before your hair starts growing at a regular pace. In the meantime, these four remedies could make your hair look healthier.
1. Fenugreek Seeds
A 2006 study found that fenugreek seeds can be an effective treatment for hair loss. What’s more, they might also help you fight dandruff if you have it. All you have to do is soak some seeds in water and leave them overnight. The next day, gently massage the water into your scalp and leave it on for two or three hours.
2. Eclipta Alba
Eclipta Alba is a plant that’s found much use in the traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Native to India, this plant also grows in the US. To use it for your hair, take a few fresh leaves of the plant and grind them with water to create a paste. Once applied to the hair, leave the paste on for about an hour or two before washing it out.
3. Eggs
You can also try the standard egg hair mask to reduce the symptoms of post-pregnancy hair loss. Just mix an egg white with three tablespoons of olive oil and condition your hair with it. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
4. Coconut Milk
It’s not just coconut oil that can do wonders for your hair. Coconut milk can achieve the same effect. Just apply it to your scalp and cover your hair with a towel to keep it in. After 20 minutes, simply rinse it off with water and dry your hair.
