“Green tea has been extensively studied in people, animals, and laboratory experiments,” reports the University of Maryland Medical Center. It notes that studies support the idea that tea can help with everything from reducing cancer risks to improving your cholesterol levels. And now, animal studies have indicated that the antioxidants in tea can reduce or prevent hair loss!
The researchers wanted to see if the polyphenols in tea, which are potent antioxidants, can help with hair loss. Meanwhile, both groups ate identical diets. The only difference between the two groups was their tea consumption.
The result?
Dramatically improved results when it came to hair loss! In fact, of the tea drinkers, 33 percent had “significant hair regrowth during six months of treatment” while “no hair growth was observed” in the study group that took no tea.
This study could change how you approach your hair loss treatment. Something as simple as changing the beverages you sip on a day to day basis can change the health, thickness and growth rate of your hair!
One of the best ways to enjoy more green tea is to use it as a replacement for your regular coffee habit. It still contains caffeine, so you won’t forgo your morning wake-up stimulation. For the best results, enjoy your tea hot or cold but without sweetener or cream, as dairy and sugar can cause inflammation that could contribute to hair loss.
If you want to sneak more green tea into your lifestyle, you don’t have to chug pot after pot of tea. Try the following ideas to incorporate more hair-friendly tea into your day!
- Freeze green tea as ice cubes and toss them into your blender to add extra antioxidants to your smoothie.
- Infuse the tea with fruit or herbs, such as strawberry and mint, for a refreshing beverage that will delight your taste buds and your hair follicles.
- Use green tea as a rinse in the shower to refresh your scalp and nourish your hair.
