If you suffer from hormone-related balding, such as male pattern baldness, it’s critical to address hormone changes and imbalances.
“Your emotions and hormones are connected, so by working to balance one, you are impacting the other,” says Dr. Axe. “A major component of balancing your hormones naturally is addressing any emotional imbalances that you are dealing with. […] If you are ever feeling stressed, angry, agitated or even fearful, understand that this is affecting your hormone balance and can lead to even bigger health issues. Keep working on your emotional balance by making it part of your daily routine.”
If you’re feeling stressed or anxious or experiencing emotional imbalance, try these simple strategies to even out your emotions, restore hormone balance and restore your hair health.
1. Deep Breathing Exercises
Often, we start to breathe short, quick gasps of breath when we’re stressed, frustrated, angry, etc. The next time you’re feeling upset, pay attention to your breath and you’ll likely see that this is true.
Calm your breath and you calm your emotions. Try to do 10-second-long deep breathing exercises for a few minutes. You’ll feel your pulse slow and your physical body relax.
2. Practice Gratitude
Gratitude can help to take away the power that negative emotions have. It also turns your mind to the present moment, instead of your mind racing back and forth between past experiences or projected future fears.
Take a deep breath, then think of five things you’re grateful for. This might be material goods or immaterial things like friendship or love. As you do this, you’ll feel your emotions become more balanced.
3. Generate Energy
Whether it’s yoga or a brisk walk, move. Generate energy. Use your body. Studies have found that movement helps to release feel-good hormones that can balance out the negative hormone spikes that are causing you to lose your hair.
